This we believe
- We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and that all things, visible and invisible, were created by God. (Matt. 28:19, II Cor. 13:14, Gen. 1:1)
- We believe that all have sinned and fallen short of God’s perfection and that there is only one way to be reconciled to God; through faith in the atoning work of Jesus Christ, God’s Son. (Rom. 3:10, 23-25, Eph. 2:1-10)
- We believe that all sin can be forgiven when there is genuine repentance.
(Rom. 10: 9-10, I John 1:9)
- We believe that human life, created in the image of God with an eternal soul, is of incredible worth and significance in all its dimensions, including the unborn, the aged, the widowed, the mentally handicapped, the unattractive, the physically challenged and every other condition in which humanness is expressed from conception to the grave. (Gen. 1:26-27, Psa. 139)
- We believe that the institution of marriage was and still is intended by God to be a permanent, lifelong, relationship between a man and a woman, regardless of trials, sickness, financial reverses or emotional stresses that may ensue. Therefore, we believe divorce is a violation of God’s intent and is sin. We will be faithful to the Scriptures by upholding and promoting the sanctity of the marriage covenant. We desire, however, to walk redemptively and holistically with people who have experienced marital failure or brokenness. (Matt 5:31-32, Matt 19:5-6, Malachi 3:15-16)
- We believe that the Bible teaches that either singleness or a lifelong marriage between one man and one woman is God’s design for humanity. The Bible is clear that nurturing the lust for or participating in homosexual, premarital, or extramarital sexual behavior is sin.
(I Cor 7:7, Gal. 5:19-21, Rom. 1:18-27, I Cor. 6:18-20)
- We believe that all Scripture is inspired by God through the Holy Spirit for instruction in salvation and training in righteousness. The Scriptures are to be interpreted as a body of believers, testing our theology with the larger church family. We accept the Scriptures as the Word of God and as the fully reliable and trustworthy standard for Christian faith and life, with Jesus as the key to interpreting both Old and New Testaments. (II Tim. 3:13-17, Heb. 4:12-13)
- We believe that Jesus taught his disciples, including us, to be peacemakers and to live a life of peace. (Rom. 5:10, 12:21, Eph. 2:13-18, Matt. 26:51-53)
- We believe the Lordship of Jesus should impact all of life all of the time. This must radically affect our relationship to each person we meet and reshape our attitude toward possessions and resources placed in our care. (Phil. 2:5-11, I Cor 10:31, Rom. 12:1-2)
- We believe that God intends for us as His church family to be accountable to each other and to serve each other in love and humility. The peace and unity of the church is of great importance to God and is a witness to our community. (Matt. 18:15-22, Gal. 6:1-2)
- We believe that the miraculous work of the Holy Spirit, as seen in the New Testament, is relevant for today’s church and that the Holy Spirit’s presence is essential in our church activities and in our daily lives. We believe that Jesus and His church, with the Holy Spirit, have power to provide healing for a broken world. (Acts 1:8, John 16:15-16)
- We believe that followers of Jesus Christ have been entrusted with the good news of His salvation and are His ambassadors responsible for spreading the good news and hope to the world, in grace and truth. (Matt. 28:19-20, 2 Cor. 5:14, 17-21)
